Questions

Is the chickenpox vaccine part of Mexico's schedule?

No. The 2026 programme gives one dose to 1-year-olds who attend daycare (guardería), but states that chickenpox is not part of the basic schedule.

What is the Cartilla Nacional de Salud?

It's the national health booklet where your child's vaccines are recorded. The Secretaría de Salud asks families to bring it to their health unit to start, complete or catch up on vaccinations.

Does Mexico vaccinate boys against HPV?

Yes. Girls and boys get a single HPV dose in 5th grade of primary school or at age 11.

What if my child had vaccines in another country?

Bring their records to your doctor or health unit. They compare them with the Mexican schedule and offer any missing doses.
